Sermon Series

April 5
Guest Speaker:  Rev. Doyle Jones

April 12     Easter Sunday:  The Ultimate Life Swap
Life:  work, eat, and sleep.  Repeat daily, for the next 40 years.  It’s enough to make you cash in your chips and find a better game to play, but Lifeswap isn’t a game.  It’s a real life invitation to swap loneliness for meaningful relationships and a life with little purpose for a life of adventure.  Join us this weekend at Gateway Church as we begin a new series, Lifeswap, and learn to live the life you’ve always wanted.

April 19     Heroes:  Unique People God Used to do Great Things
From movie celebrities to sports stars, we tend to idolize those who are in prominent positions.  But most people who have had the greatest impact on our lives or on society are relatively obscure.  Throughout the years, God has used people that have been unlikely heroes to do great things.  This Sunday Pastor Shull will share how these people make a positive impact on your life, and how you too can be a hero.

April 26     Families on the Edge
These are precarious times for families.  Financial pressures, long commutes, hectic schedules, setting boundaries for kids - it’s enough to send anyone close to the edge.  Is there a way to not only survive, but thrive in this crazy environment?  Pastor Shull will explore some straigtforward guidelines for setting your feet - and your family - on solid ground.

May 3     Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Why celebrate Cinco de Mayo?  Because on May 5, 1862, 4,000 Mexican soldiers defeated the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City.  We celebrate these 4,000 brave soldiers and honor the thousands of Mexicans who crossed the border after the attack on Pearl Harbor to join the U.S. in its fight against Japan.  Joining us on this special occasion is Rev. Joel Tuchez from Garden City, Kansas.

May 10     Mother’s Day Service:  A Mother’s Greatest Contribution
Mom taught you right from wrong.  She drew you back when you wandered.  She was always there…encouraging, comforting, rejoicing with you - always holding you in the circle of her love.  Whether you’ve been influenced by a great mom or you’re a mom yourself, join us this Mother’s Day as Pastor Shull shares this touching message.

May 17     Foster Parent Appreciation:  Celebrate People Who Make A Difference
Topic:  Decision Impossible: How to Make the Best Decisions of Your Life
May is National Foster Care Month.  What an opportunity to recognize the generosity and commitment of our foster parents and to raise awareness about the need for more families who are willing to open their homes and hearts to children in need.  We, at Gateway Church, want to “Celebrate People Who Make A Difference” by honoring those foster parents from the Refuge House.  Special activities are planned for this very special occassion.

May 17     PM Service
Sunday night will be a special moment in the life of Gateway Church.  On this special evening, we will gather at Walnut Grove Middle School for an extended time of worship, music, and communion.

May 24     100% Sunday plus Friend Day
Topic:  Rewind: Discover How to Have a Second Chance
Have you ever wished you could have a control button on the remote that could rewind the story of your life?  I am sure all of us have made choices we wished we hadn’t made; or, if given another chance would do it a little differently.  Gateway Church is made up of people who need a second chance and have been given a second chance.  This Sunday, Pastor Shull will share some vital information at how to succeed when given a second chance.

May 31     Brush Arbor Sunday:  Celebration of Pentecost
Topic:  Born on Fire
Those early Apostles experienced tremendous disappointment in their ability to stand up for Jesus in those last days.  In response to the instructions from Jesus, they find themselves in the Upper Room having no idea of the Divine appointment they were about to have and how it would change their lives.
